Wild Times Require Courage & Conviction by Teresa Taylor

Everything you do right now ripples outward and affects everyone. Your posture can shine your heart or transmit anxiety. Your breath can radiate love or muddy the room in depression. Your glance can awaken joy. Your words can inspire freedom. Your every act can open hearts and minds.

~David Deida

Greetings to our friends and community,

Wild times require courage and conviction. Courage: from the Latin for heart. Hurricanes, floods, fires, earthquakes one after another. Geopolitical instability with big stakes. Extreme divisiveness. Oh yes, courage and conviction are called for. And, then there are those who are courageously facing more personal challenges. A beloved friend of mine is. Perhaps, your friend or family member is thick in calling forth courage. Perhaps, you are.

One of the ways we can come into balance and connection with each other and all life is by giving from the heart. When you give to others, whether it’s an act of kindness, generosity, or compassion, it helps us live from the heart instead of the ego. Courage.

Early October brings celebrations of beings of great courage and conviction: 10/2 is the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi; 10/4 is the Christian feast of St. Francis and 10/8 is the Buddhist festival of Kuan Yin.

May we call forth in ourselves, invite and invoke the energetic courage and commitment of Gandhi to lead us through times of injustice and divisiveness in ways that allow the blossoming of nonviolent change.

May we call forth in ourselves, invite and invoke St Francis of Assisi. Make me an instrument of peace.

May we call forth in ourselves, invite and invoke the compassion of the Bodhisattva Kuan Yin, who has vowed to remain with us and hear the cries of suffering, offering the balm of mercy and compassion. There has been deep suffering.

Amidst it all may we remember to be present to Beauty, Truth and Goodness and shine on.

I love the world,
I love all beings
With both hands, I make a vow
May all beings be free from sufferings
May all beings be free from afflictions
May all beings live in the path of compassion, love and peace
May all beings live for everyone
