August: Patient Reflection by Anna Chapman

Warm weather has a tendency to slow things down, and with 5 planets currently retrograde, this contributes to a feeling of walking in deep sand. Patience will serve you well, at least until Mercury goes direct on Aug. 7-8 (the day depends on your time zone.) Best to relax in appreciation, after all, the month begins on a Full Moon and experiences a second full moon, a Blue Moon, on the last day of the month. If you are a Full Moon baby then you truly understand the power of reflection and will go to the head of the class this month. Drama may well be part of the experience but this time you have a chance to remain neutral as you observe the goings on.

This is a good month, amid the heat and retrogrades, to take a look at Self in relation to Other. Or to simply look at Self while being grateful to others for what they have to offer by way of reflection. The freedom we seek is not at arm’s length but is less than a breath away.

Between these two Full Moons is an opportunity to pull everything together in a way that illuminates the Self as the conductor of the orchestra, rather than the musician dependent upon following the conductor’s lead. In physical reality, this is a great month to slowly build the framework for a project that will then quite miraculously complete during the first days of September. With the creative force abundant in Leo, make sure to put all your ideas down on paper in preparation for their unveiling sometime early in the next month.

If trudging through deep sand, it is best to dispense with as much weight as possible, thus, a good time to clear the clutter. Most people have a lot of stuff, and then the attitude toward the stuff becomes dependent; “I need these things.” One time making my way around Ireland with far too much stuff, all I could think was, “What was I thinking?” Any thoughts of being inconspicuous dragging two big suitcases everywhere is ridiculous. I never wore most of what I brought and, in the end, decided someone else would be better off with my stuff. Less stuff is just a suggestion, though generally speaking, it seems as though we could get along quite well with fewer possessions to mind and a little more ‘just space’ for all of us to share.

In 1984, there was 289.7 million square ft. of rentable self-storage space available in the U.S. In 2010 there was 2.24 billion square ft. of rentable self-storage space. Americans spend 20+ billion a year in storage space fees. There is 7.3 sq. ft. of self-storage space for every individual in the U.S.

For those who may be interested. There is a lot of energy gathering about Mt. Shasta, mid-August for several days prior to-and-following the new Moon on the 17th. In an effort to consolidate a communal experience, there are those who offer strong support of action to further an allegiance of peace. Even though everything is perfect in every moment and there may be nothing for us to “do” relative to the absolute, the greater number who have the capacity to “be” ensures a healthier atmosphere in which to continue the growth process.

3 Tarot Cards for August: Ace of Wands, The Tower XVI and Two of Wands

Ace of Wands: Clarity in this moment and allowing that to illuminate your vision of life. There is confidence, knowing and passion for this spectacular moment and each moment that unfolds. Aces represent potential and wands have the potential to inspire, to look higher and to explore new territory, to creatively pursue a goal to its conclusion.

The Tower: Dissolution of, and letting go of whatever is unnecessary. It may seem like a surprise when something is apparently snatched away with barely a moments notice but it is what most needs to happen for your liberation. That is what you truly desire. And “that” requires nothing for sustainment.

Two of Wands: You hold the world in your hand and everything is possible. Based on the clarity and confidence of the Ace of Wands, the Two of Wands suggests a realization that sets the stage for creation, 1+2=3. The Two of Wands sees the path to the potential creation of whatever is needed in this moment, and what that might be is beyond the physical (pentacles), emotional (cups) and mental (swords). What remains is the spiritual level and freedom. Wisdom and foresight are essential guides upon this path.

Iced Hibiscus Tea: great in hot weather and good for whatever may ail you, can even be used as a preventive measure. Hibiscus contains anthocyanins or flavonoids with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties also found in berries, red onions, pomegranates, kidney beans and grapes. Studies show benefits of drinking hibiscus tea and lowered blood pressure and enhanced cardiovascular health. For more details see: www.rosellatea.net

Enjoy the summer. Release stress and thoughts of “having to…” Release! And relax.
